WhatsOnStage.com is reporting that Oscar and Tony Award winner Judi Dench will star as Titania in a revival of A Midsummer Night's Dream to be directed by Peter Hall. The performance will be a homecoming for Dench; she first played the role nearly 50 years ago, when she apppeared in Hall's 1962 Royal Shakespeare Company production.

The Dench-led production will play at the Rose Theatre, Kingston from 9 February, 2010 to 20 March, with an opening set for 15 February.

The production is said to be "set in Elizabethan England, with Titania, the Fairy Queen, imagined as "a portrait of the ageing Queen Elizabeth I, fascinated with the theatre, besiged by courtiers but 'married to the people of England.'"

Public booking for A Midsummer Night's Dream opens on 14 September 2009. To book tickets, contact the box office at 0871 230 1552 or visit www.rosetheatrekingston.org.
