David Hunter, who reached the semi-finals of Andrew Lloyd Webber's ITV1 search for Jesus for his new arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, is to star as Horton the Elephant in the new London production of Seussical at the Arts Theatre from December 4.

With Music, Lyrics and Book by Tony Award winners Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime) and a sprinkling of the fantastical from Monty Python's Eric Idle, Seussical sees the magical "thinks" of Dr. Seuss brought to life on stage.

Seussical is a colourful Broadway musical set in the fantastical, bombastical and songtastical world of Dr. Seuss. It is being presented in a new Theatre for Young Audiences version at the Arts Theatre and has special family-friendly daytime performances from Tuesday 4 December - Sunday 6 January.

The press performance is Thursday 6 December at 1.00pm.

Further casting to be announced.

David Hunter trained at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and graduated from the Acting course in 2006. During his time at LIPA, and seeking a musical outlet, David joined a local band and began writing and recording original music. But what started as a bit of fun, suddenly became a full time commitment, when the band were signed and immediately set to work creating their debut album. Recorded with the producers responsible for The Rolling Stones and The Who, the album eventually led to huge support slots, playing alongside The Feeling, Scouting For Girls and finally McFly on their full UK arena tour. During this time, David fronted the band as they performed in front of 200,000 people in every major arena in Britain. After completing their own headline tour, the band decided to call it a day. David returned to acting. He appeared in new musicals Pub and Spinach at The Royal Exchange in Manchester, before joining One Man, Two Guvnors at The National Theatre and its transfer to he Adelphi Theatre.

Seussical is produced by David Hutchinson and Phillip Rowntree for the multi award-winning Sell a Door Theatre Company.
