DIC DIC CHANG CHANG PLAYGROUND to Return to Edinburgh Fringe for Final Year

A joyful, action-packed introduction to Cantonese opera for children and families, Dic Dic Chang Chang Playground weaves together drama, live music and audience participation in a battle against the villainous Boring King. The story follows two young guardians of Cantonese Opera Land - Captain Dic Dic and Chang Chang, whose names echo the striking sounds of the Muyu and Gong instruments - as they fight to save their magical world from a puppet tyrant determined to make everything dull. Guided by the Cantonese Opera Fairy, the pair discover the power of performance through gestures, song, and symbolic staging. Families are called upon to learn simple routines, pick up key Cantonese opera phrases, and enlist as secret agents in the mission to vanquish the Boring King once and for all. Celebrated for its imaginative fusion of storytelling and cultural discovery, this award-winning interactive production makes Cantonese opera feel exciting and accessible. Performances will run at theSpace @ Surgeons Hall, Royal College of Surgeons.
