Anita Dobson to Make Royal Shakespeare Company Debut in THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

According to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye, Anita Dobson will make her Royal Shakespeare Company debut in The Merry Wives of Windsor, beginning Oct. 25 in Stratford-upon-Avon.

"[Director Phillip Breen] said I'd be a perfect fit because I work well with an audience," Dobson told the Daily Mail.

Dobson will play Mistress Quickly (a role played by Judi Dench in the last RSC production of the show) opposite Desmond Barrit as Falstaff, under the direction of Phillip Breen.

Most recently seen as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, Dobson has also played Gertrude in a production of Hamlet and is known for her role as Angie Watts in the soap EastEnders. She also appeared in The National Theatre's Frozen, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award. Dobson has also appeared in the West End's Leave Him to Heaven (1976), Budgie (1988), Nine (1992), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2003) and in a London concert production of Into the Woods (2006).
