Anita Dobson & Angela Griffin Set for Sunday Readings In The Park at Park Theatre

Actors for the remaining plays in Sunday Readings In The Park at Park Theatre have been revealed. Anita Dobson, Angela Griffin, Michael McKell, Andrew C Wadsworth and Honeysuckle Weeks will take part in the intimate readings in the idyllic PARK90 until 6th December. The season is presented by The New Actors Company in association with Park Theatre.

The inaugural season of Sunday Readings In The Park, Rediscovering British Gems, is a collection of rarely performed theatrical treasures by well-known, and not so well known, British playwrights. Having opened the season with works by J.M. Barrie and John Galsworthy, upcoming plays are by J.B. Priestley, Susanna Centlivre, James Saunders, John Hopkins and George Bernard Shaw.

On Sunday 1st November, 2pm Michael McKell will return to Park Theatre in the J.B Priestley play Mr Kettle and Mrs Moon, directed by Robert Laycock. Mr Kettle is a bank manager who, perplexingly, flees from the conventions of his job, his life, and his responsibilities; opting instead to stay at home and play a childhood game he always adored - but the bank has a game of its own, and they don't intend to lose.

Michael McKell's theatre credits include Blood Brothers (Phoenix), Crazy For You (Regent's Park Open Air and West End) and most recently Roaring Trade (Park). Michael has also appeared on TV screens in 'Doctors', 'Emmerdale' and 'EastEnders', as well as in cult film 'Essex Boys' alongside Sean Bean.

On Sunday 8th November, 2pm Honeysuckle Weeks also returns to Park in A Bold Stroke For A Wife by Susanna Centlivre, directed by Park's Creative Director Melli Bond. To wed his love, Colonel Fainwell must persuade each and all of her four guardians: an old beau, a hypocritical Quaker, a snobbish antiquarian and a miserly stockbroker that he will make an ideal husband.

Honeysuckle Weeks's theatre credits includes Agatha Christie's A Daughter's Daughter (Trafalgar Studios), Pygmalion (Chichester) and These Shining Lives (Park). She is known for her starring role in the ITV wartime drama Foyle's War.

Also in the cast are Gloria Onitiri, Matt Rippy, Donella Fox, Omar Ibrahim, Dnita Gohil, Gary Fannin, Joyce Veheary, Sakutala Ramenee and Tat Whalley.

On Sunday 29th November, 2pm Anita Dobson and Andrew C Wadsworth make their Park debuts in Find Your Way Home by John Hopkins, directed by Robert Laycock. Relationships are put to the test and ripped apart when Alan Harrison, a husband and father, resolves to finally leave his wife for his lover Julian, who is in the midst of a very dark and disturbing period in his life.

Anita Dobson is an award winning actress of TV, Film and Theatre. In 2003, she was nominated for an Olivier Award for her performance in Frozen (National) and most recently starred in She Stoops to Conquer (Theatre Royal Bath). Anita is loved for her role as Angie Watts in 'EastEnders'.

Andrew C Wadsworth was nominated for an Olivier Award for Kiss Me Kate (Regent's Park Open Air). Andrew previously worked with The New Actors Company in Now We Are Sixty and his theatre credits include Evita, Radio Times, The Lady or The Tiger and Marguerite.

On Sunday 6th December, 2pm Angela Griffin too makes her Park debut in both Village Wooing and The Dark Lady Of The Sonnets by George Bernard Shaw, both directed by Charlotte Donachie. In the first comedy, 'A' is trying to get on with his work, and by that his life, but he is continually interrupted by the chatty 'Z', another passenger on a cruise liner. The Dark Lady of the Sonnets is a charming comedy where William Shakespeare, accidentally encountering Queen Elizabeth 1, presents the case for a National Theatre.

Angela Griffin's theatre credits include Breeders (St James), Gertrude's Secret (Leeds Grand) and One Man, Two Gunners (Theatre Royal Haymarket). Angela's many TV credits include 'Coronation Street', 'Holby City', 'Cutting It', 'Mount Pleasant' and 'Waterloo Road'. She can currently be seen on TV screens in 'Lewis'.

After each one-off performance the audience will be invited to stay for a short Q+A discussion where members of the cast and the director will give their insights into the play and answer questions.
