I Dream DC is a new theatrical work created for and by the community, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, centering Washington, DC in a national conversation about hope, healing, and justice. Written by Daniel Koa Beaty and directed by Tiffany Fulson, the piece blends poetry, music, movement, and lived experience, drawing on interviews with local residents to explore the memory, loss, and resilience of the DMV region. The production features a cast including Xemi Tapepechul, Miss Kitty, Kit Krull, Yesenia Iglesias, Hillary Jones, and Victor Salinas, alongside a community ensemble. It is the first installment of a new annual production series dedicated to theatrical works rooted in community voices, artistic collaboration, and civic engagement.
