Ghost Limb at Gunston Arts Center Theatre Two

Avant Bard presents Ghost Limb, written by Marisela Treviño Orta and directed by Elena Velasco, running at Gunston Arts Center Theatre Two May 3–23, 2026. The play follows Consuelo, a mother whose son has been taken by the government—desaparecido—and who discovers a psychic connection between her injured arm and her tortured child, a "ghost limb" that compels her to find him. Set against Argentina's Dirty War and shaped by the myth of Demeter and Persephone, the work is a poetic interrogation of authoritarianism, tracing a story of loss, resistance, and a mother who refuses to let the state erase her son. The runtime is 85 minutes with no intermission.
