Signature Theatre to Screen TENDER MERCIES as Part of 'Signature Cinema' Series, Feat. Q&A with Betty Buckley Today

Signature Theatre presents the film Tender Mercies as a part of the popular "Signature Cinema" series tonight, October 7th at 7:00 p.m. in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Tickets are now on sale and are $8 for subscribers and $13 for general admission.

Tender Mercies was nominated for five Academy Awards and won two, including one for Best Original Screenplay for Signature's 1994-95 Playwright-in-Residence Horton Foote. The film was directed by Bruce Beresford and stars Robert Duvall, Tess Harperand Betty Buckley, who can currently be seen on stage at Signature in the World Premiere of Horton Foote's THE OLD FRIENDS. In the film, a broken-down, middle-aged country singer seeks to turn his life around through his relationship with a young widow and her son in rural Texas. Following the screening, the audience is invited to participate in Q&A session with Tony Award winner Betty Buckley, moderated by Michael Wilson, the director of THE OLD FRIENDS.

"Signature Cinema" showcases films written by Signature's Playwrights-in-Residence and films that explore the "world of the play" that is currently in production. Signature Theatre is pleased to present the World Premiere of Horton Foote's THE OLD FRIENDS, directed by Michael Wilson. The production will now play through Sunday, October 6 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center(480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

On September 30, Signature will present Betty Buckley: Signature Songs, a special, one night only concert featuring Buckley and directed by Michael Wilson, in honor of Horton Foote and Signature Theatre's Legacy Program.
