Over the past three years, Pointless Theatre has become known as one of the most innovative experimental theatre companies in the region, and the young company is launching a new membership program that is just as innovative. "Team Pointless" is the most social membership program in the country. Members who give by December 1st will be invited to any number of social events with the young group of artists including seeing performances at other theatres, post-show parties, open rehearsals of new works, barbecues, tea with the directors, and (for members of the highest level) an intimate candle-light supper.

The company has been producing shows since 2009 and has achieved much success working as a tight-knit group of artists. "We're a family", says Pointless Theatre Co-Artistic Director Patti Kalil, "and we're inviting our patrons and supporters to be part of the family by joining Team Pointless." Team Pointless members will receive exclusive monthly emails with updates from the company. Membership also comes with swag including buttons, t-shirts, and more personalized pieces depending on the level.

There are six levels of membership starting at $50. Plus, "because Pointless Theatre recently became fiscally sponsored by the national arts service organization Fractured Atlas, all contributions made to our membership campaign on indiegogo or through our giving page are tax-deductible," says Pointless Theatre Managing Director David Lloyd Olson, "It's just another way we can thank our members for supporting us in a deep and sustainable way."

Pointless Theatre has two shows lined up over the next year at the Mead Theatre Lab at Flashpoint (916 G St. NW). Cab Calloway's Minnie the Moocher plays January 1st-25th, 2014, and The Sleeping Beauty: A Puppet Ballet, part of CulturalDC's Mead Theatre Lab Program, plays April 9-May 3. "We are producing two shows this year that will be re-imagined versions of previous Pointless shows," says Co-Artistic Director Matt Reckeweg, "but we wanted to be able to connect to our audiences year-round and not just when we're performing." In addition to the social events, members of Team Pointless will receive updates on new work the company is creating throughout the year and will be invited to some open rehearsals to see the works taking shape.
