Matthew Hirsh and Russell Rinker to Star in DC Professional Debut of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN at NextStop

By:
NextStop Theatre Company's fourth professional season kicks off in September 2016 with the DC-area professional premiere of the hit Broadway-musical, Catch Me If You Can. NextStop's production will open September 8 and run through October 9, 2016.

The musical is based on the beloved 2002 film, which starred Leonardo DeCaprio and Tom Hanks. In NextStop's new production, the cast will be led by Matthew Hirsh as Frank Abagnale Jr. and Russell Rinker as Agent Carl Hanratty. Both actors are making their NextStop debut. Hirsh is a CUA alum class of 2013 where he is a member of the prestigious Musical Theatre program. Rinker is a Virginia native, recently returned to the area after having built a long list of national credits, including several years performing with Blue Man Group.

Other returning performers include Mackenzie Newbury (City of Angels) as Brenda Strong, Carolyn Burke (City of Angels) as Paula Abagnale, Hannah Jennens (Kiss Me, Kate) and Ariana Kruszewski (America's Composers) as members of the "Frank Abagnale Jr. Dancers."

The cast also includes: Doug Sanford (Frank Abagnale Sr.), Edward Nagel (Agent Dollar), Michael Reid (Agent Cod), Ruben Vellekoop (Mr. Strong/Agent Branton), with Patricia Targete, Melrose Pyne, Corrine Holland, and Alexis Krey as additional members of the Frank Abagnale Jr. Dancers. They will be accompanied by a live, nine-piece orchestra, led by Music Director Elisa Rosman.

This true story was brought to the stage by the composers of Hairspray. Seeking fame and fortune, precocious teenager Frank Abagnale, Jr. successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer - living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams. But when Frank's lies catch the attention of FBI agent Carl Hanratty, Carl pursues Frank across the country to make him pay for his crimes.

The creative team behind the production includes Evan Hoffmann (director & scenic designer), Elisa Rosman (music director), Rachel Dolan (choreographer), Jack Golden (technical director), Brittany Shemuga (lighting design), Julie Cray (costume design), and Reid May (sound design). Kathryn Dooley serves as the production's Stage Manager.
