Sarah Stone presents a zany evening of musical comedy in her latest show, Laverne DeVoe...Isn't She Dead? Written and performed by Stone, this funny and sometimes touching musical revue features well-known jazz, blues and show-tune favorites from Steven Sondheim, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington and many more.

Forced to revive her never-really-existent career, songstress and screen siren Laverne DeVoe and her faithful accompanist, Frederick (played with priceless irreverence by local jazz piano great, Fred Barnes), strike out on their national come-back tour. As the evening progresses the audience steps into the world of this has-been, who chooses, with oblivious hauteur, not to accept the obvious fact that she never truly was in the first place. With Sarah on stage and Fred behind the piano, laughter and enjoyment is sure to be the main event of this musical evening.

The Town Hall Theater Cabaret is always an intimate event. Shows are presented in the Byers Studio on the lower level, with patrons sipping wine at candlelit tables. The atmosphere is like a hip New York club, and the $10 ticket makes it a very affordable evening.

Laverne DeVoe...Isn't She Dead? makes its debut in the Town Hall Theater Cabaret on Thursday, April 21, at 7 pm. Tickets are $10, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm) and at the door.
