Dorset Theatre Festival to Open 2015 Summer Season with THE STINKY CHEESE MAN

By:

This month, Dorset Theatre Festival kicks off its 2015 summer season with a special Family Fun show, a staged adaptation of the beloved children's book The Stinky Cheese Man by Jon Scieszka performed by students from The Theatre Institute at Sage. With special family pricing and matinee performances, The Stinky Cheese Man invites families and children from the area to join DTF for a season filled with family-friendly fare, including Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily in July and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in September.

"Family friendly shows are a big favorite at the Festival, because they allow us to really connect with our community," says Dina Janis, Artistic Director. "We believe that bringing children and families into the theatre is one of the most important ways to keep the theatre alive and vital. Plus, these shows are wonderful and fun!"

The Theatre Institute at Sage, based in Troy, New York on the Russell Sage College Campus, is dedicated to providing quality live theatre and arts-in-education programming to Capital Region youth, educators and residents. The Institute also provides opportunities for Russell Sage students as performers, technicians and teachers. This is the first time Sage performers have brought their talents to the Dorset Theatre Festival, though they travel with various performances at schools and venues throughout the Capital Region of New York.

Performances of The Stinky Cheese Man will take place at the Dorset Playhouse on Saturday, June 13th and 20th at 11 am and 3 pm. The show is recommended for ages 4 and up. More information and tickets are available on the DTF website, www.dorsettheatrefestival.org or by calling the box office at (802) 867-2223.
