Town Hall: Uplifting or Gentrifying the DTES? features a panel discussion following the City Council's recent motion aimed at addressing issues in the Downtown Eastside. Panelists include Councillor Rebecca Bligh, Norm Leech of the Aboriginal Front Door Board, community organizer Kathy Shimizu, Michelle Lackie, Jean Swanson of the Carnegie Housing Project, and Wendy Pedersen from the SRO Collaborative. This event invites community members to explore the implications of proposed changes to zoning and social housing definitions. It will take place at the Japanese Hall on November 6, 2024.
