Company 605 from Vancouver and The Human Expression Dance Company from Singapore collaborate in the world premiere of Sloth Canon, a piece that explores themes of expansion and the tension between speed and slowness. Choreographed by Josh Martin and Anthea Seah, the performance features dancers Brandon Lee Alley, Rebecca Margolick, Haruka Leilani Chan, Chang En, and Billy Keohavong. The work challenges the pressure to constantly progress by juxtaposing rapid movements with the sin of slowness, accompanied by a score from Matthew Tomkinson. Following its debut in Vancouver, Sloth Canon will also be featured at the cont·act Contemporary Dance Festival in Singapore.
