Remote Control is a multimedia 2 act comedy which takes place at the turn of the century. The live set is on Peppercorn Island in the Georgia Straight, British Columbia while the transmitted portion (dvd recording) is set primarily in New York, NY.

This is a David and Goliath story; the small Peppercorn broadcasting station is a part of the Scott Network in Western Canada. They are fighting back from being closed down as they learn of plans of the purchase of the Scott Network by the corrupt New York broadcasting giant, Lancaster Media. The savvy Peppercorn crew vow to hoax, spoof, and lambaste Lancaster Media. With the introduction of Darwin, a Computer Generated Intellect the team take their efforts into a whole new direction, into an era of fake news.

Remote Control begins its five theatre run of the lower mainland January 24th at the Genesis Theatre with tickets starting at $29, matinee shows on the weekends.

What makes Remote Control different

This is the world premiere of a story we have heard too much about, but with a modern twist. Another large conglomerate has found an easy target and is ready to swoop in for the kill. However this easy target may have an advantage in an era of fake news.

This is also a story told from an underdog, David Robertson. Without the open door from Hollywood David finally decided to take matters into his own hands and self-produce Remote Control the play. No longer would he let Hollywood or major producers dictate what they believed to audience worthy, instead he is bringing his vision whatever # of years in the making to BC, starting where it all began for him, in Ladner. David is an independent force, not to be reckoned with.

Playwright and producer David Robertson, principal at Magnesium Entertainment, was gifted with the idea of this play when producing a 17 episode TV series about Delta, B.C., called Encounter in the 1990's for Delta Cable. The script grew in popularity as David found eyes to read it over the years and finally David has been inspired to self-produce.
