Pacific Theatre to Present OLD TIME GOSPEL RADIO HOUR, 4/9-12

By:

Pacific Theatre brings back the magic of live radio and the glory of good gospel music in Old Time Gospel Radio Hour. Vancouver's bluegrass favourites Viper Central and folk songstress Sheree Plett join Ron Reed in an onstage celebration that will lift your heart and revive your soul. Playing April 9-12 at 8pm with 2pm matinee on Saturday at Pacific Theatre, 1440 W 12th Ave. For tickets ($19.99-24.99, taxes and fees not incl.) call 604.731.5518 or visit pacifictheatre.org.

"It's all kind of clicked into place," says Ron Reed on the partnership that has been in the works for some time. The idea of working together began after the band's fiddler/vocalist Kathleen Nisbett performed in Pacific Theatre's A Christmas Carol. She introduced him to the band, and Reed instantly loved them, "Viper Central is a group of high energy, expert musicians and they are so much fun. When they play the room just lights up."

"We are thrilled to be working with Ron Reed, Sheree Plett, and Pacific Theatre in bringing some of our favourite songs to this intimate and historic venue," says Viper Central on the project. A Vancouver-based bluegrass band, Viper Central came together four years ago based on a shared love for classic bluegrass and old-time repertoire. In that time they have released three albums and toured across North America and Europe.

Joining the team is Sheree Plett, local folk singer known for her evocative voice and lyrics. Plett is an audience favourite at Pacific Theatre's annual holiday show Christmas Presence. She has toured Canada and the US with four albums to date, backed up by husband and guitarist Jeremy Eisenhauer. Recently her tours have included the addition of two little ones as Plett and Eisenhauer's family grows.
