Pacific Theatre Reveals All-Canadian 2026/27 Season
The Vancouver company will stage Jill Daum's MENTAL and tour SON OF A PREACHERMAN to Ottawa's National Arts Centre.
Pacific Theatre has announced its 2026/27 season of bold and compelling works, on stages in BC and Ontario from September 2026 to April 2027. The season will feature PT's first national tour of Ins Choi's award-winning Son of a Preacherman, which premiered at PT in April 2025; the return of the company's beloved holiday variety program, Christmas Presence; and the world premiere of Mental, a raw and deeply personal new work from Vancouver playwright Jill Daum about the bravery of a mother's fight to protect her child at all costs. Single tickets for the 2026/27 Pacific Theatre season are now on sale.
The 2026/27 season comes after a short programming pause in 2026, during which PT departed its long-time home of more than 30 years. The company has since relocated to its new home on Granville Island for the 2026/27 season.
“After a period of pause and reflection, we are thrilled to be back with an incredible new season of rigorous, inspiring, and thought-provoking works,” says Kaitlin Williams, PT Artistic Director. “Finding a new home on Granville Island has been a gift, and we cannot wait to welcome both new and returning audiences to experience what PT does best in this incredible space. We are also enormously proud to be taking Ins Choi's Son of a Preacherman — a work created entirely in-house — across the country for the first time. To bring this poignant work from the creator of Kim's Convenience to the National Arts Centre is a landmark moment for PT, and a powerful reminder of the reach and resonance that bold, homegrown storytelling can have. Our future feels very bright indeed."
The 2026/27 Pacific Theatre Season includes:
Son of a Preacherman by Ins Choi – National Tour
September 16-26, 2026 at the National Arts Centre, Ottawa

Ins Choi and Pacific Theatre hit the road with Son of a Preacherman, bringing this award-winning play to audiences across Canada. Bursting with warmth, wit, and musical flair, Choi dives into stories of faith, creativity, and life as the only son of a Korean church pastor. A funny, heartfelt and irresistibly engaging production from the creator of Kim's Convenience. Directed by Kaitlin Williams and starring Ins Choi. Also featuring Rachel Angco (BC), Belinda Corpuz (Ontario), Ben Elliott, and Haneul Yi.
Christmas Presence

Urgent, intimate, and human, this world premiere from one of Vancouver's leading playwrights and co-creator of the Mom's the Word performance series, lays bare the quiet cost of love.
