Massey Theatre Presents CUBA VIBRA!

Cuba sings, dances and lives! A hot night is in store at the Massey Theatre on Friday, March 8th as Cuba Vibra! by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba Company takes over the stage. This performance is a tribute to Cuban musical heritage - a night of pure celebration all rolled into one amazingly immersive performance that will heat up the Massey.

Direct from Cuba, 17 dazzling dancers and 8 musicians will transport the audience on a rhythmic tour of Cuba in a colorful and vibrant way, showcasing its roots, its dances and its music. The originality of the company lies in fusing all the elements of flamenco, ballet, contemporary dance, and popular dances that make the heart vibrate and fill the soul.

Created in Cuba in 1991 by the talented dancer and choreographer Lizt Alfonso, the Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba company has become one of the most prestigious dance companies in the dance and musical world known for its novel style. It made its success around the world thanks to Lizt Alfonso's ability and genius combining cha-cha, mambo, rumba, conga, and bolero together with 50 years of Cuban dance history, along with the passion of live Cuban music.

Some of company's honours have included being the first Cuban dance company to perform at the Latin GRAMMY Awards as well as the first to perform a run on Broadway. In Nov. 2018, Lizt Alfonso was selected by the BBC as one of the 100 most inspiring and influential women in the world, the first Cuban woman to receive this honour.
