The Point's GradLab Scheme Supports New Wave Of Emerging Artists Based In The South

GradLab, a bespoke scheme programmed by The Point that aims to support new graduates and emerging artists, has selected its 2018 cohort.
Now in its third year, GradLab offers artists based in the Southern regions a vital support system, offering mentorship, performance opportunities and workshops relevant to forging a career as a successful dance artist. The scheme was created to give participants a viable pathway into the dance sector, allowing choreographers and dancers to network with key industry figures and make connections with venues around the region.
"We are very excited to see the journey of this year's GradLab cohort. The project will be running intensively throughout the summer, followed by performance sharing's through the winter until April 2019. We have a strong focus on cultivating new emerging artists to further enhance our region's talent and we are looking forward to seeing what the three graduate choreographers create this year... Watch this space!" - KJ Mortimer, Agent for Dance Excellence
The selected choreographers for GradLab 2018 are Rambert graduate Solomon Berrio-Allen, Natalie Bell from the University of Exeter and Tasarla Watson from the University of Chichester. The choreographers will make works on eight graduate dancers who have graduated from University of Winchester, University of Chichester and Rambert School. They will present these at different sharing platforms later in the year.
Previous GradLab participants have since gone on to perform work at The Place, London, tour professionally, and accept residencies at prestigious venues in the UK and Europe.
GradLab is funded by The Linbury Trust and supported with additional funds from Graduate on Chichester.
