The Point Launches New 2017-18 Dance Training Scheme

The Point has announced the launch of its new for 2017/18 dance Training Scheme for young people aged 11-15 years old.

The Point Training Scheme offers young people enthusiastic in improving their practice in dance high-quality, well-rounded training. The six-month course offers a stable foundation of technique, understanding, and creative response, and will encourage individuals to flourish creatively. The new Training Scheme gives participants the opportunity to work closely with nationally-recognised dance artists and practitioners in an empowering and creative environment.

Alana Jones, The Point's Dance Education Officer, said: "The Point is extremely excited to be offering an invaluable opportunity for young people to work with exceptional artist's working in the industry. We are looking for passionate dancers, and welcome applications from everybody - regardless of experience!"

The Point Training Scheme will be led by professional choreographer and Lila Dance co-Artistic Director Carrie Whittaker alongside a ballet tutor from world-renowned Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. The fortnightly sessions, running January to July 2018, will develop young dancers and support them in taking the next step to vocational or professional dance training.

The Point is now accepting applications and welcomes interest from anyone who is interested in learning new skills, passionate about dance and committed to growing their practice. Previous training and experience is not essential.

The deadline for application is Friday 24th November, auditions will be held on Sunday 3rd December.
