THIRD FLOOR Plays Trafalgar Studios 2, Previews October 11

By:

Jason Hall's new play THIRD FLOOR will receive its European premiere at Trafalgar Studios 2 on Thursday 13 October, previewing from 11 October, for a limited season ending on 5 November. This new thriller, a hilarious and unsettling look at urban living today, will be directed by Russell Labey and will star Craig Gazey and Emily Head.

When a young woman buys her first flat it seems that all her dreams are coming true. Then she meets her neighbour; overbearing, brash, and prone to spectacular gaffs, she can't help but find him strangely attractive. But when an innocent prank goes horribly wrong, the newly-formed friendship is pushed to breaking point. Only then do the neighbours realise they don't know as much about each other as they thought they did.

Earlier this year, Craig Gazey left the soap Coronation Street, where he had played the character Graeme Proctor for three years, a role for which he won numerous awards, including most popular newcomer at the 2010 National TV Awards and best comedy performer at the 2010 British Soap Awards. Previous theatre credits include The Tempest, Antony and Cleopatra and Julius Caesar at the RSC and Harvest at the Royal Court. Emily Head is best known as Carli D'Amato in three series of The Inbetweeners. She will also be appearing in the movie of the same name, which is released in the UK this summer.

THIRD FLOOR will be directed by Russell Labey. Previously, he was script editor on the Gus Van Sant movie Milk, and he directed his own adaptation of New Boy at the Trafalgar Studios in 2009 with Nicholas Hoult, for which he received a Whatsonstage.com Award nomination for Best New Comedy. He has also been commissioned to write the film screenplay. In 1995, he won a TMA Award for Best New Musical for his original stage adaptation of Whistle Down the Wind, which he also directed.

THIRD FLOOR will be produced in London's West End by Sally Humphreys Productions & Jason Haigh-Ellery.
