THE MOON IS HALFWAY TO HEAVEN Plays Jermyn Street Theatre

The world premiere of David Kerby-Kendall's play THE MOON IS HALFWAY TO HEAVEN will open at the Jermyn Street Theatre on Thursday 8 September, previewing from 6 September, for a strictly limited season, which must end on 1 October. Directed by Joe Fredericks, it will star Lucas Hare and David Kerby-Kendall.

THE MOON IS HALFWAY TO HEAVEN tells the story of lifelong friends Jamie (played by Lucas Hare) and Paul (David Kerby-Kendall). A poignant comedy, it begins in 1928 and ends in 2010, when the two friends have reached the grand age of 82. They always meet in their special place. It's here that they play and philosophise; here that Jamie tries to teach Paul that he can have more fun with girls than the Encyclopaedia Britannica; here that they go to war, recover from divorce, get drunk on their retirement; and here that they eventually face their own mortality. As we the audience join them on their journey through the trials and joys of adolescence, adulthood and old age, we and they learn that one never really grows up. This story shows how the love of friendship can some times surpass family ties.

Lucas Hare played P.C. Lockett for three years in EastEnders, and was in the Bond film Die Another Day. Earlier this year, he appeared in Alan Ayckbourn's Season's Greetings at The National Theatre.

Director Joe Fredericks recently directed a highly praised production of Company at Southwark Playhouse.
