South Staffs Musical Theatre Company (SSMTC), one of the Midlands best loved amateur companies return home to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre with their latest production, OLIVER! - the Lionel Bart musical based on the novel by Charles Dickens.

OLIVER! is undoubtedly one of the best loved musicals in theatre history. When orphan Oliver Twist utters the immortal words "Please Sir I want some more", little does he know his actions will take him on unimaginable adventures in the underworld of Victorian London, alongside the colourful characters of Fagin, Nancy, Bill Sykes and The Artful Dodger, not to mention Bullseye - the English Bull Terrier.

For the last 78 years, South Staffs Musical Theatre Company have performed at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. Following their highly successful productions of Carousel, The Sound of Music and Guys and Dolls recently, they are again set to delight audiences, this time with the fun family favourite, OLIVER!

The cast of local actors includes veteran performer, Mike Thomas from Albrighton as Fagin, James Collins, a secondary school teacher at Smestow School in Wovlerhampton as Bill Sykes, student Lexie Bennett from Upper Gornal as Nancy in her first principal role for SSMTC, 9 year old James Shaw and 12 year old Ben Sidaway who are sharing the title role.

Lionel Bart's sensational score includes the timeless melodies, You've Got To Pick A Pocket Or Two, Who Will Buy?, As Long As He Needs Me, I'd Do Anything and many, many more tunes for the family to sing along to.
