Relaxed Performances of Christmas Shows to Be Presented at Citizens Theatre

In an effort to ensure that its shows are accessible to all, the Citizens Theatre will once again host Relaxed Performances for its two Christmas shows: Cinderella and One More Sleep 'Til Christmas.

In addition to a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, Relaxed Performances offer freedom of movement within the auditorium, adjustments to sound and lighting on stage and in the auditorium, and a quiet room that can be visited at any point during the performance.

Relaxed Performances are open to anyone who would benefit from a more laid back environment when visiting the theatre. This could include people with an autistic spectrum or communication disorder and their families.

Building on the success of Relaxed Performances during last year's festive season, these events involve all departments within the theatre: from cast members, the creative team, technicians, to front of house staff, who all work together in order to make for an experience that is as welcoming as possible.

Trained Citizens Theatre staff will also be on hand in order to help patrons make the most of their visit to a Relaxed Performance event.

Relaxed Performances of Cinderella take place on Wed 13 Dec at 10.30am & 7pm.

A Relaxed Performance of One More Sleep 'Til Christmas, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's show for 3-6 year olds in the Circle Studio, is already sold out.

In recent years leading theatre venues across the UK, from Shakespeare's Globe to the Royal National Theatre, have developed Relaxed Performances in partnership with The National Autistic Society.

Box Office Manager, Denise Differ, said, "We know that lots of people come back to the Citizens Theatre every year at Christmas thanks to the warm and friendly atmosphere of our building, and the welcome they receive from our staff."

"The Relaxed Performances allow us to extend that welcome to those for whom a traditional theatrical experience can be overwhelming. There will still be the same high quality of storytelling, and plenty of the theatrical magic that makes Christmas at the Citz so special."
