Mud packs, make-up brushes and mirrors are at the ready for a beauty parlour experience like no other when acclaimed young people's theatre company Oily Cart head out on a regional UK tour this summer from June 12th, with their sweet smelling and sparkly production of MIRROR MIRROR.
Staged inside an immersive and fully tactile beauty parlour, MIRROR MIRROR, offers a unique and multi-sensory theatrical experience, complete with a spot of pampering. Soft make-up brushes glide across faces, warm soapy water washes over skin, and mud-packs are massaged into hands in Oily Cart's trademark intimate and hands-on style for children and young people with complex disabilities. It's a world of sparkling light and magical mirrors, complemented by the aroma of perfume, accompanied by live music from a full-sized harp.
Suitable for ages 3-19 and devised for two bespoke audiences: for children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, and for children and young people on the autism spectrum, MIRROR MIRROR is an interactive treat from head to toe.
MIRROR MIRROR will tour to special schools around the UK, as well as to mainstream venues, including: The Hive in Shrewsbury (15th June); Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry (27/28 June), Canterbury's Gulbenkian Theatre (4/5 July ) and the egg in Bath (22 July).
Ellie Griffith, Director of MIRROR MIRROR, comments: "I am delighted at the opportunity to direct this fantastic performance for Oily Cart. The live harp music has been so spellbinding and beautiful to work with, as well as a multi-skilled cast who really bring the piece to life. I can't wait to see the young people's responses to the magical, messy, multi-sensory wonderland that we have created!"
