Rab C. Nesbitt star Gregor Fisher talks from the Citizens Theatre stage about his 35 year career spanning theatre, film and television on Sunday 31 May at 7pm in a fundraising event for the Citizens Theatre's Redevelopment Campaign.

During the event, audiences will have the chance to find out more about Fisher's life and career and hear anecdotes from the actor who first appeared alongside legendary comedian Rikki Fulton in Scotch and Wry and in recent dramas Oliver Twist and Tommy Cooper: Not Like That, Like This. During his career to date, he has also appeared in a number of sitcoms, films and theatre productions. Fisher will also be answering questions from the audience during the fundraising event.

The BAFTA-winning actor will be joined on stage by Maureen Beattie. Beattie, along with her actor and comedian father Johnny Beattie, has previously supported the Citizens in its campaign to improve seating in the auditorium and has appeared on its famous stage a number of times.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the theatre's redevelopment campaign. First announced in 2013, the theatre's most comprehensive redevelopment in its 135-year history will protect the theatre for future generations by repairing and revealing the most significant parts of the heritage: the Victorian auditorium at the heart of the site; its rare collection of original 19th-century stage machinery and a unique example of a working Victorian paint frame. A new foyer, learning and rehearsal studios, classes for workshops, administration facilities will be created, with improvement made to the auditorium and catering facilities. Work on the project is expected to begin early in 2017.

Speaking ahead of the event Fisher said: "The Citizens Theatre holds a special place in the heart of many Glaswegians, mine included, and I'm delighted to be taking part in an event that contributes towards safeguarding the building for the future. Maureen and I will be settling down on Sunday 31 May for a right good blether, and I hope that many of the Citizens' friends and supporters will join us for what will be a great evening."

The two stars will be appearing at the Citizens in between performances of the National Theatre of Scotland's new production Yer Granny by Roberto Cossa in a new version by Douglas Maxwell, which tours Scotland and Northern Ireland from 19 May - 4 July.
