Greenwich Theatre Announces Formal Partnership with Sell a Door

By:

After years of collaboration, Greenwich Theatre and Sell a Door Theatre Company have formally announced a partnership.

Sell a Door Theatre Company, who are based at Athelney House on Greenwich High Road, produced their first production - Shelagh Delaney's A Taste of Honey - at the theatre in Spring 2011. They have since gone on to produce a further nine productions at the theatre including their debut UK tour of Spring Awakening and their London revival of Alan Bennett's The History Boys. The two organisations have collaborated on a number of other productions, including Seussical at the Arts theatre in the West End, which had its debut London production over Christmas 2012.

Sell a Door Theatre Company's new status as partner Theatre Company at Greenwich Theatre will formalise the company's annual season at the 400-seat venue, and continue to strengthen the work the two organisations produce together.

David Hutchinson, Artistic Director of Sell a Door Theatre Company says, "We are delighted to have been made partner theatre company of such a renowned theatre with a history of producing high quality, diverse productions for local audiences. There isn't another theatre like it in South East London, that possesses a real passion and that has supported our growth over the last three years. Add to that a heritage that goes right back to 1855 and we're even more thrilled to be part of the latest stage in this important theatre's history."

James Haddrall, Artistic Director of Greenwich Theatre says, "Sell A Door Theatre Company is a great example of the work we do in supporting the development of some of this country's finest young companies. The work they produce is of a consistently high standard, their ambition is infectious and we are delighted to be launching a formal partnership with this Greenwich based company. With three productions lined up for 2014 this is a partnership with a strong future."

Sell a Door Theatre Company's next co-production with Greenwich Theatre will be an exciting new adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. The production will feature community performers from the Greenwich area alongside the professional cast. It will run from 24th May to 1st June 2014.

Before then, Sell a Door Theatre Company will be producing a major revival of Robert Lopez, Jeff Marx and Jeff Whitty's Avenue Q at Greenwich Theatre from April to May 2014, and will be touring to the venue with their UK tour of Robert Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped in April.
