Full Cast Announced for FOUR PLAY by Jake Brunger

Four Play, the first full-length play by Jake Brunger, the critically-acclaimed writer of Adrian Mole the Musical opens at Theatre503 in February. This comic new play about sex, relationships and fidelity in the 21st century is from the critically-acclaimed director/producer team of Sense of an Ending and is Jonathan O'Boyle's first play as Associate Director at Theatre503.

Cai Brigden (Another Country, Trafalgar Studios; Doctors, BBC), Michael Gilbert (Treasure, Finborough Theatre; All Day Permanent Red, Royal Court), Peter Hannah (Shakespeare In Love, Sonia Freidman Productions; One Arm, Southwark Playhouse) and Michael James (The Last Days of Troy, Shakespeare's Globe; Doctors, BBC) will play two young couples whose relationships become intertwined.

Exploring the muddy dynamics of faithfulness and infidelity, Four Play questions what it takes to make a couple truly 'compatible'. How do you really know when it is time to settle down and when do you run for the hills? Rafe and Pete have hit a rut. After seven and a half blissfully happy years, their lack of varied sexual experiences is driving them apart. When they proposition mutual friend Michael to help out with their problems - knowing full well Michael has his own partner Andrew - what seems like a simple solution quickly spirals out of control. What happens will fundamentally change their relationships. Jonathan O'Boyle comments: It's really exciting to be back at Theatre503 and to be directing such an important play.

Four Play is a truly contemporary look at how gay relationships work in the modern world, where the rise of dating apps is making our ability to commit to relationships harder than ever. But, at the same time, the recent advent of gay marriage and adoption is also changing what gay couples expect from their relationships. It's such a fascinating period we're living through and this is the first play I've read that truly explores these issues refreshingly and honestly. It's also a joy to be working on such a fast paced and funny script - Jake writes perfect voices for this generation.
