One Academy Productions are proud to present the Scottish premiere of the controversial Multi Tony Award-Winning celebration of awakening sexuality.

Spring Awakening is the contemporary indie musical inspired by Frank Wedekind's 1891 masterpiece of repressed emotion and adolescent passion. It is the explosive story of three friends - brilliant student Melchior, his tortured friend Moritz and Wendla, a beautiful young girl - who are all on a voyage of emotional awareness and sexual awakening.

The production was a huge cult hit on Broadway where it premiered and then in London's West End where it opened in 2009.

One Academy Productions was launched by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2009. The Company's aim is to build on the already highly respected reputation of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama to source and present unique and innovative professional productions utilising the skills of the Academy's graduating students, thus providing a much needed first step on the road to the success that many previous graduates of the Academy have already achieved.

John Wallace OBE, Principal of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama said: "One Academy Productions represents all that is best about the Academy - excellence, innovation, aspiration, the highest professional standards and sheer talent. For those involved it is the culmination of months and often years of intensive training and the highest quality of performance."

Spring Awakening is part of One Academy Productions' Emergence Series at The Pleasance. The other productions in the season are the World Premieres of In Touch by Dougal Irvine and Closest To The Moon by Richard Taylor. They are both platform productions in association with Perfect Pitch Musicals.
