Following a critically acclaimed run earlier this year, Daniel Taylor Productions' immersive production of Shakespeare`s classic comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream returns to The Epstein Theatre in Spring 2018.

The magical comedy was the Epstein's first Shakespeare production, receiving rave reviews from arts critics and excellent audience feedback. It is now making a welcome return as part of an alternating repertoire, along with the greatest love story of all time, Romeo and Juliet.

During a two-week run, audiences will be able to watch both Shakespeare's biggest comedy and greatest tragic romance on one stage! The two shows will be performed at the Epstein Theatre between Wednesday 11 April and Saturday 21 April (listings below).

Cast and creative announcements will be made in the coming months. However, acclaimed Liverpool actor Daniel Taylor will resume the role of director for both plays

Daniel Taylor was born and lives in Liverpool and in 2016 he toured the UK, Ireland, Canada and the US in the title role of Lennon: Through A Glass Onion. His acting credits also include the West End and National production of Blood Brothers; and he played the role of Mickey in Alan Bleasdale's 40th anniversary production of Down the Dock Road (Royal Court, Liverpool). Daniel also produces and plays the title role in The Tommy Cooper Show.

A Midsummer Night's Dream follows four young Athenian lovers and a group of six actors, whose lives are turned upside down by the powers of fairies and their magic powers. This production will appeal to all audiences, and will be of particular interest to GCSE students as the play is currently included in the National Curriculum.

Romeo and Juliet is highly regarded as one of the greatest love stories of all time. Set in Verona, Italy, two young star-crossed lovers are caught in the middle of feuding families with tragic consequences. Heartache and love are at the very essence of this production.

Daniel Taylor commented: "Bringing Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream to the Epstein Theatre earlier this year was a huge success, it shows our commitment to bringing the classics to life and in a venue accessible to everyone. So after receiving such amazing and humbling feedback, we were keen to build on this further - so we'll be back bigger and better for Spring 2018 with two productions.

"Romeo and Juliet is the greatest love story ever told and, with its tragedy and heartache, it will fully compliment the fun and mischief in A Midsummer Night's Dream. We're already counting down the days until the curtain goes up on opening night."

Rebekah Pichilingi, Manager of the Epstein Theatre, added: "Our first venture into staging the timeless classics of Shakespeare was given a very warm welcome by our loyal audiences, so we're absolutely thrilled that Daniel Taylor and the team have chosen The Epstein to continue this magical journey."
