Cultural Quarter Prepares For A Super Sunday Of Family Fun
Culture Warrington is going out of this world this weekend as it celebrates the town's cultural offering with two fantastic events.
It's all fun and games around Queens Gardens this Sunday as Culture Warrington entertains visitors with a bonanza of fun, games - and even a treasure hunt!
Warrington Museum & Art Gallery is being transformed into a galaxy far, far away this Sunday as the 99th Garrison takes over for a day of Star Wars-themed arts and crafts.
Last month, the venue announced it would be opening one Sunday a month to coincide with the increasingly popular Makers Market in Queens Gardens.
Over the next few months, the museum will present a range of fantastic, fun-filled activities for all the family, starting with this Sunday's fantasy-themed extravaganza.
This free event will unite generations as families come together to celebrate this epic film franchise by posing for photos with Stormtroopers and making their very own Millennium Falcon/Death Star blueprint.
Mike Roberts, visitor services officer at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery, said: "We've hosted the 99th Garrison at the museum before and they make such a big impact. Their costumes are incredibly authentic and you can't help but get caught up in the Star Wars Universe when you pose for a photo with a couple of Storm Troopers! This event is an absolute must for Star Wars fans - and a great day out that everyone can get involved in."
Meanwhile, the museum's sister venues Pyramid & Parr Hall are having their own fun this Sunday as they present a mystery treasure hunt.
To join in the buzz of this Sunday's events in the Cultural Quarter, Pyramid & Parr Hall are giving away six pairs of tickets to Bill Bailey's Larks in Transit shows next week.
Taking place on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 June, Bill's latest show is a compendium of hilarious tales from his 20 years on the road as a travelling comedian. A talented musician, Bill is set to delight fans as he fashions a symphony from a ringtone, and tells the real story of Old McDonald.
Tickets for both shows will be hidden somewhere around the Cultural Quarter this Sunday, and visitors can be in with a chance of winning a pair by following and liking Pyramid & Parr Hall, Culture Warrington and Warrington Museum & Art Gallery social media pages, and using a series of clues posted on these pages to find the hidden tickets.
So, for a super Sunday of food, film fandom and family time - not to mention the chance to win tickets to an evening of comedy gold! - head to Queens Gardens between 11am and 3pm this Sunday.
