Cast Set for NANA & NUNU at Buxton Fringe

By:

First seen at Fairfield Halls, Croydon this Easter, original children's musical Nana & Nunu - The Big Sneeze! comes to the Buxton Fringe from 22nd - 25th July and tells the tale of Nana and her cuddly, but snuffly aardvark Nunu who gets the sneezes on his birthday. Venturing across snow, sea and sky, Nana, along with grandchildren Jake and Sophie, tracks down a magical flower with the power to stop an aardvark's achoo and helps save the day.

In his second show for producers Dame for a Laugh, Steve Wickenden plays the lovable and eccentric Nana. A specialist in the Dame role, Steve has appeared as Nanny Knickerbocker (Sleeping Beauty, Sutton), Hyacinth Horseradish (Rapunzel and the Rascal Prince, Bury St Edmonds) and Queen Cheryl (Sleeping Beauty, Chatham) in pantomime and will this year star alongside Stephen Mulhern as Dandini in Cinderella at Fairfield Halls, Croydon. Most recently he could be seen playing the Queen of Hearts in Blackshaw Theatre's Alice in Wonderland having toured the UK in The Sword in the Stone and Wind in the Willows for Cambridge Touring Theatre.

In the role of Nana's granddaughter Sophie, Drama Studio London graduate Chloe Van Harding's credits include Shakespeare for Breakfast at the Edinburgh Fringe and Our Country's Good at the New Diorama, London. An experienced performer, Chloe recently spent a season playing Gretel in Hansel and Gretel at the Colourhouse Theatre, Merton entertaining audiences in this family friendly Grimm tale.

Having just completed a run in the UK premiere of Irving Berlin musical Face the Music in London, Daniel-James Webster takes on the role of Nana's grandson Jake, having previously been seen in musicals 42nd Street, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Sweeney Todd.

Lee White completes the cast as the Librarian, Man in the Sky and Gardener; characters Nana, Nunu, Jake and Sophie meet on their adventure. Having trained at East 15 Acting School and Arts Educational, London, Lee's recent credits include Mr Hazell in Danny Champion of the World (Brentwood Theatre, Essex) and William Mulcahy in 189 Pieces at the British Museum. In 2013, his show Bloo - A Puppet Named Desire won the Best Comedy Award at the Brighton Fringe.

All four cast members reprise their roles alongside Nunu the fluffy pink aardvark, a puppet designed and constructed by Stitches and Glue, the workshop behind National Theatre hits The Light Princess and Elephantom.
