If you think Britain is Barmy now, wait till 2020! So with Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - Part Four! currently running at the Apollo Theatre, Birmingham Stage Company is getting ahead of events and today announces the world première of Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - Part Five! in Summer 2020, marking Horrible Histories' ninth year in the West End. It opens at Apollo Theatre on 3 August, with previews from 30 July and runs until 29 August 2020.

We all want to meet people from history. The trouble is everyone is dead!

So Barmy Britain is back with a brand new show full of crazy new characters and rude new rulers from Britain's barmy past!

Will you conquered by King William? Will you sink or swim with King Henry I? Will Thomas Becket get the chop? Go house hunting with King Henry VIII! Are you scared to scale the Tudor scaffold? Join the gorgeous Georgians as they take over England! Break into Buckingham Palace and hide from the Queen! Watch out for the witch of World War Two!

Britain's favourite history show is back in the West End with a brand new production! It's history with the nasty bits left in!

Terry Deary is the creator of Horrible Histories and one of Britain's best-selling authors of the 21st Century. He's also the tenth most-borrowed author in British libraries. There are around 50 Horrible Histories titles with total sales of 25 million in 40 countries and this year also saw the release of Horrible Histories: The Movie. Deary is also the author of over 200 fiction and non-fiction books for young people including his series of books Dangerous Days.

Neal Foster is the Actor/Manager of Birmingham Stage Company which since its foundation in 1992 has staged over eighty productions. The company has become one of the world's leading producers of theatre for children and their families, including Horrible Histories Live on Stage for fourteen years in the UK, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia. Foster has written and directed all of the most recent Horrible Histories shows including the Barmy Britain series seen in the West End, across the UK, and abroad - the latest instalment, Barmy Britain 4 is running in the West End throughout August 2019. In addition, the world première of Tom Gates which he adapted with the author Liz Pichon is currently touring the country through to 2020 and Billionaire Boy his third David Walliams stage show after Gangsta Granny and Awful Auntie beings its UK tour this September.

Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - Part Five! is written and directed by Neal Foster, designed by Jackie Trousdale, lighting by Jason Taylor, sound by Nick Sagar, music by Matthew Scott and choreography by Kenn Oldfield.

BIRMINGHAM STAGE COMPANY is the award-winning producers of David Walliams' Gangsta Granny, Awful Auntie and the forthcoming UK tour of Billionaire Boy. The company produce all the Horrible Histories shows live on stage including the West End productions of Barmy Britain. Its latest UK tour is the world premiere of Tom Gates by Liz Pichon. The company also performs internationally, including David Almond's Skellig on Broadway, George's Marvellous Medicine in New Delhi and Horrible Histories at the Sydney Opera House.

Horrible Histories shows are recommended for ages 5 to 105 (106 year olds may not like them)
