Barry Humphries to Bring FAREWELL TOUR to King's Theatre, 11-15 Feb

By:

Paul Dainty of The Dainty Group and James Cundall of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions have announced that legendary entertainer Barry Humphries - whose alter egos have brought him international acclaim and made him a star around the globe - is to extend his FAREWELL TOUR of the UK in to 2014 and its coming to the King's Theatre from Tuesday 11 - Saturday 15 February 2014.

EAT PRAY LAUGH! will give audiences across the country the chance to bid farewell to Humphries, arguably Australia's greatest entertainment export, and his unforgettable characters: the Honorable Sir Les Patterson, Sandy Stone and, of course, the iconic Dame Edna Everage.

Dame Edna is one of the greatest stars of the last 50 years - the "housewife superstar" has played the West End and Broadway on numerous occasions, performing to packed theatres including the Royal Albert Hall at the "Last Night of the Poms", as well as countless performances for the Royal Family; has television credits including the legendary UK special "A Night on Mt. Edna" as well as her own innovative chat show "The Dame Edna Experience"; and has played to sold-out audiences around the world.

Act One of Eat Pray Laugh! features gentle, grandfatherly Sandy Stone and the inebriated cultural attaché Sir Les Patterson - this serves as "just a bit of foreplay really before I make an org*smic appearance in Act Two", Dame Edna says!

Surrounded by spectacular sets and dancers, Dame Edna promises to "empower" audiences as she meditates on the big issues of gender, ethnicity and climate change.

Humphries has already taken his final triumphant bow to audiences throughout Australia and New Zealand where, due to extraordinary demand for tickets to see the iconic performer, satirist, artist and comedian, additional performances needed to be added across the tour to satisfy the demand of over two hundred and fifty thousand adoring fans!

This brand new show is directed by award-winning Australian theatre director Simon Phillips, who directed the original Priscilla Queen of the Desert, with design by Tony Award-winning Brian Thomson, who designed the original Australian and London productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show, as well as the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympic Games.
