Next month Back Of House Theatre Company will bring to life Dale Wasserman's powerful stage adaptation of Ken Kesey's groundbreaking novel ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST.

Charming rogue R. P. McMurphy feigns mental illness in order to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institute rather than a prison. Herein he clashes with Nurse Ratched, the head nurse of the all-male ward, by staging a rebellion against her overbearing rules.

Ken Kesey's novel also inspired the award-winning 1975 film adaptation starring Jack Nicholson.

The production is proudly supporting the Time to Change campaign - managed by mental health charities Mind and Rethink. The campaign aims to raise awareness, and tackle discrimination, around mental illness.

Back Of House are supporting Time to Change because of personal connections to the charity, with several members suffering, or having suffered from mental health problems in the past.

Collections will be held after each performance and Time to Change information will be displayed, alongside local mental health service information.

A question and answer session will also be held after the Saturday performance with mental health professionals and the show's director, Will Millar.

Will said: "We are thrilled to be supporting the Time to Change campaign. Mental health stigma is a very real thing, something I have experienced in the past with my own troubles."

The production has also been programmed to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day on Tuesday 10 September.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is at The Marlowe Studio at 8pm on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 September, and is suitable for those aged 16 and over. Tickets cost £10 (concessions £9); to book, call the Box Office on 01227 787787 or go to marlowetheatre.com.
