The Arcola Theatre will present a revival of David Mamet's THE SHAWL, starring Academy Award nominee Elizabeth McGover. Directd by Amelia Nicholson, the production will run 9 September through 3 October, 2009

"A troubled woman seeks guidance from a silver-tongued clairvoyant, who in turn reveals to a manipulative young trick the art of his craft. But who's deceiving who? Is there such a thing as an honest charlatan?"

Mamet's razor sharp text is a lyrical exploration of trust, greed and betrayal, and the power of spiritual knowledge in a secular world.

McGovern will appear opposite Matthew Marsh and Paul Rattray.

The production features design by Anna Bliss Scully, sound by Tom Gibbons and lighting by Richard Howell.
