Second City Toronto Adds Exciting New Faces To Its Upcoming 81st Sketch Revue

The Second City's 81st Mainstage Revue hits Toronto on April 6, and the theatre is engaging in its time-honoured tradition of introducing the next generation of comedic talent to the world. In addition to returning cast members Brandon Hackett, Nadine Djoury and Allana Reoch, two new performers are making their Mainstage debut, along with the return of an award-winning alumna.

Sharjil Rasool is an alumnus of The Second City Touring Company and was featured in the JFL42 "New Faces" Showcase in 2016. He co-hosts the comedy podcast That's How I Remember It and can be seen performing improv as a member of the Canadian Comedy Award-winning troupe MANTOWN (Full bio here)

Chris Wilson is a Victoria, BC native and one-half of the three-time Canadian Comedy Award-winning sketch duo Peter N' Chris. He has written and contributed sketches to CollegeHumor, CBC's The Irrelevant Show, This Art Works! and Royal Canadian Air Farce. (Full bio here)

The Second City also sees Stacey McGunnigle return to its Mainstage cast for the upcoming revue after having written and performed in three previous Mainstage productions. She recently won Best Supporting Actress at the Austin Film Festival for her role in Must Kill Karl and was hailed by Variety magazine as the "breakout of pilot season" after landing the lead in NBC's comedy pilot Ellen More or Less. When you throw in universal themes like human interaction and information sharing in our Siri/Google/Alexa-driven world, the end result is a biting and uncompromisingly funny show for audiences from all backgrounds.

In addition to sketch comedy, the soon-to-be-named 81st revue will feature satirical musical numbers and Second City's world-famous improv. The show is directed by Second City alum Carly Heffernan, who helmed the theatre's smash hit 2016 revue Come What Mayhem, as well as the critically acclaimed all-female Second City Chicago show She The People.
