Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, returns to Toronto this month. Performances begin on April 28 and run through June 6 at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

Seen by over 40 million people around the world, the blockbuster musical had its North American premiere in Toronto in May, 2000 and wowed Canadian audiences for a record-breaking 5 years.
"I'm absolutely delighted Mamma Mia! is returning to our stage," says David Mirvish, who co-produced the show in Toronto. "We introduced it to North America; originally we thought it would play for 26 weeks. It broke audience records here and remains a phenomenon that audiences everywhere fall in love with. I look forward to seeing it again, I've missed it.

MAMMA MIA!, is celebrating 7 sold-out years at the Winter Garden Theatre On Broadway, and is currently playing a record-breaking engagement on its National Tour in the United States. The originAl West End production has played more than 4,000 performances, an international tour has played in more than 40 cities, and the feature film adaptation, produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, is the most successful movie musical of all time, grossing $600 million worldwide.
Leading the cast of 30 is Michelle Dawson as Donna Sheridan, the independent single mother whose carefree past catches up with her on the eve of her daughter's wedding. Bride-to-be "Sophie Sheridan" is played by Liana Hunt. Her fiancé "Sky" is played by David Ramio.

Kittra Wynn Coomer and Rachel Tyler play Donna's best friends and former back-up band, Rosie and Tanya, (respectively) who reunite with their best friend on an idyllic Greek island for Sophie's wedding. The three men from Donna's past and Sophie's possible dads are John Sanders (Sam Carmichael), Matthew Ashford (Bill Austin), and Vincent Corazza (Harry Bright). Sophie's & Sky's best friends are played by Melanie Brezill (Ali), Ayme Olivo (Lisa), Adam Kaokept (Pepper), and Michael Roberts McKee (Eddie).

MAMMA MIA!'s ensemble features Stephanie Barnum, Lyndsey Cole, Jane Cooke, Donell James Foreman, Lori Haley Fox, Carole Denise Jones, Leah Joseph, Mario Matthews, Jennifer Noth, Matthew Tyler, Damien DeShaun Smith, Jason Watson, Bradley Whitfield and John-Michael Zuerlein.
An independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on the island, Donna is about to let go of Sophie, the spirited daughter she has raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends-practical and no-nonsense Rosie and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya - from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own.

On a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of possibilities.

Inspired by the storytelling magic of ABBA's songs from "Dancing Queen" and "S.O.S." to "Money, Money, Money" and "Take a Chance on Me," MAMMA MIA! is a celebration of mothers and daughters, old friends and new family found.

Produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal, the creative team responsible for bringing MAMMA MIA! to theatrical life includes some of the most gifted and celebrated talents of musical theatre and opera.
