Building on the buzz surrounding Five Faces for Evelyn Frost, the exciting new bilingual co-production by Canadian Stage and Théâtre français de Toronto (TfT), the two companies and the Canadian Theatre Critics Association (CTCA) are hosting a post-show panel discussion with leading critics from Toronto and Montreal.

Karen Fricker of the Toronto Star, J. Kelly Nestruck of The Globe and Mail, Sylvain Lavoie of Spirale and Nathalie de Han, President of l'Association québécoise des critiques de théâtre (AQCT), will be participating in a free public dialogue on Saturday, March 25th from 5pm to 6pm at the Berkeley Street Theatre, following a matinée performance of the play.

The panel, like the production itself, will be bilingual and tailored to both French and English-speaking audiences. It will be moderated by Joël Beddows, TfT's Artistic Director, who will also provide translation in both languages. A Q&A session will follow the panel.

Five Faces for Evelyn Frost, by Québécois playwright Guillaume Corbeil, was originally produced in Montréal in 2013 by Théâtre PÀP under the title Cinq Visages pour Camille Brunelle, where it won the AQCT's Prix de la Critique. Canadian Stage and TfT presented the play's English-language Toronto premiere from February 14th to March 5th. It will be performed in French (with English surtitles) as adapted to Toronto by the same cast, from March 21st to 25th.

Written in the language of social media, Corbeil's play traces the lives of five young friends through their online personas, questioning how identity and relationships are shaped by the images we choose to cultivate on the internet. With all the talk of "fake news" and "alternative facts" in the wake of the inauguration of U.S. President and Twitter addict Donald Trump, Corbeil's drama about the deceptive powers of social media is timelier than ever. It is sure to provoke a stimulating discussion.

In addition, this will be a rare chance to discuss French and English-Canadian approaches to theatre and compare the Montreal and Toronto productions of this significant Canadian play.

March 25th is the closing day of Five Faces for Evelyn Frost/Cinq visages pour Évelyne Frost. There are performances at 3:30 pm and 8 pm at the Berkeley Street Theatre. The discussion will take place between performances in the theatre's Rehearsal Hall. The event is free; wine and beer will be available for purchase.
