The Santa Paula Theater Center will present Conor McPherson's chilling and suspenseful thriller, THE BIRDS (from a story by Daphne DuMaurier) on its Main Stage from June 23 through July 30. Performances are Fridays & Saturdays at 8 pm and Special Summer Sunday Matinees at 4 pm at the Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 South 7th Street in Santa Paula, CA 93060. Tickets are $24.00 for adults and $22 for Seniors and Students and can be purchased online at www.santapaulatheatercenter.org or by calling the SPTC Box Office at 805.525.4645

In THE BIRDS mysterious masses of birds have begun to violently attack at high tide driving strangers Nat and Diane to take refuge in an isolated, abandoned house by the sea. With no electricity and scarce food, the tension-inside and out-is palpable. The arrival of a young woman with a mysterious nature of her own complicates the balance in the house. Based on Daphne DuMaurier's short story that inspired the Hitchcock film THE BIRDS, Conor McPherson's play is a chilling psychological portrait of fear and alienation.

THE BIRDS is directed by returning SPTC set designer and actor Jeff G. Rack. Mr. Rack is currently Artistic Director of the acclaimed Los Angeles tradition, WICKED LIT. Cast members include Kathleen Bosworth as Diane, Taylor Kasch as Nat, Juliana Acosta as Julia, and Allan Noel as Tierney. Leslie Nichols produces with the support of Jeff Rack as Scenic Designer, Gary Richardson as Lighting Designer, Barbara Pedziwiatr as Costumer, and Gail Heck as Prop Master.

Conor McPherson's THE BIRDS is the third show of Santa Paula Theater Center's Main Stage Centennial Season celebrating the 100th birthday of its building. Becky's New Car by Steven Dietz playing August 25-October 1, and It's a Wonderful Life: On the Air playing November 17 through December 23 will round out the remainder of the season. Prorated Season Subscriptions are still available through our web site www.santapaulatheatercenter.org. Individual tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for Seniors/Students. This production contains strong language and is recommended for audiences ages 15 and above. Tickets: www.santapaulatheatercenter.org or call the Box Office at 805.525.4645.
