American Stage Theatre Company continues its 2010-11 season in the Raymond James Theatre with Tampa Bay area native son and Tony Award winner Terrence McNally's romantic comedy, FRANKIE AND JOHNNY IN THE CLAIR DE LUNE, running May 31 thru July 3.

In a walk-up apartment on New York's West Side, Frankie, a waitress, and Johnny, a short-order cook, make love. Then, what could easily become a one-night stand between co-workers, takes a romantic detour when Johnny, a compulsive talker, convinces Frankie that he may love her. And so, in a long night's journey into day, two very ordinary people, both disappointed by life, entertain the courageous and terrifying notion of love at middle age. FRANKIE AND JOHNNY IN THE CLAIR DE LUNE is a bittersweet comedy by an American master playwright brave enough to contemplate The Miracles that happen between two people watching TV and eating ice cream. Playwright Terrence McNally, who was born in St. Petersburg, will also be returning to help celebrate the opening week. Mature subject matter, language and brief nudity.

"Terrence McNally is one of theatre's most important playwright's today," said Todd Olson, producing artistic director. "We are so excited to produce FRANKIE AND JOHNNY IN THE CLAIR DE LUNE with him here to celebrate with his great work with his friends and family in the Tampa Bay area."

FRANKIE AND JOHNNY IN THE CLAIR DE LUNE stars American Stage veteran Tom Nowicki (THE SEAFARER) and newcomer Tonia M. Jackson.
