QUEERSTORIES Comes to Riverside Theatres

By:

QUEERSTORIES Comes to Riverside Theatres ImageOn Friday 9th February, the highly anticipated LGBTQI storytelling night, Queerstories, is heading to Riverside Theatres for a special event as part of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras' 40th anniversary celebrations.

Writer, producer and performer, Maeve Marsden, will host an eclectic line up of stars and strangers for a night of queerstories, unexpected tales of lives well lived and battles fought, pride, prejudice, love and humour.

From its usual home in Redfern, Queerstories brings storytellers from all walks of life to the stage each month and has proved itself an undeniable success with sold-out shows for over a year.

Queerstories at Riverside Theatres will feature special guests including theatre-maker, Karen Therese; author, Peter Polites; activist, Mel Gardiner; filmmaker, Vonne Patiag; and Amar and Muhammad Ali from 2 Boys in Saris.

Maeve Marsden said, "Queerstories has been hugely popular and I think it's because LGBTQI people are desperate to hear our own stories, to celebrate our lives and experiences. Riverside Theatres are committed to celebrating the diversity of their audience so Queerstories felt like a great fit and a fantastic opportunity to reach a new audience in Western Sydney."

The LGBTQI community has been sharing stories for centuries, creating their own histories, disrupting and reinventing conventional ideas about narrative, family and community. In this special Western Sydney event, audiences can expect a funny, moving, surprising and engaging night out!

Queerstories is Auslan interpreted. The stories are also shared via a popular podcast, Queerstories, available here https://omny.fm/shows/queerstories.

Bookings: https://riversideparramatta.com.au/show/queerstories/ or from the Box Office (02) 8839 3399.
