LOVE LETTERS Takes The Stage At Playhouse Theatre

Lambert House Productions, fresh from the success of their productions (with Little Stormy Pty Ltd) of the original Australian play "God's Cowboy" and the hit comedy "Fag/Stag", have announced a strictly limited season of the classic AR Gurney play "Love Letters".

The play, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, will be performed for a limited engagement of five peformances.

The play is rooted more in the novel than drama, but which works as a sweet treat, imbued with realism, naturalism, humour, affection, warmth, romance & tragedy.

In 1990, Love Letters played at the Sydney Opera House twice every Sunday for 6 months, changing its cast weekly. Among those who appeared in it were Philip Quast, Ruth Cracknell, Grant Dodwell, Penny Cook, Andrew McFarlane and Drew Forsythe.

Director Les Solomon says he is a little overwhelmed that the company has won the rights to perform the play. "The copyright holders are very anxious that this play is only performed in a particular way and by specific people, so we are very thrilled to have the opportunity to stage the show for five intimate performances"

Solomon says, "It is a much-loved piece of theatre, and we are proud to offer audiences a chance to share its joy and its humour and its honesty once again."

For this short season, the two central roles will be performed by Max Fernandez ("The Frogs: In Hell They Sing Showtunes" (Fingerless Theatre), "God's Cowboy" (Little Stormy Productions), and "Bonny and Read: A New Musical" (Qtopia)) and recent NIDA graduate, Amelie Devos.

The play can famously be performed by actors of any age, so long as their ages are commiserate. These two will take audiences on a warm-hearted and honest journey for a very short but exciting season.

Performances will run from July 1-4th at the Playhouse Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the event's page on Try Booking.
