Australian Musical VICKI Debuts On Sydney's North Shore

The work of local Lane Cove writer/composer Rodney Ivan Stewart (Devil May Care, Melody), VICKI is a tale of four survivors of a nuclear attack: a poet, a painter, a scientist and a robot. During three weeks of zany, serious and amusing life together in a nuclear fall-out shelter, they discuss art, science, logic, love, lust, feelings, reason - and, yes, a nuclear explosion!

Featuring the talents of Cayden Richards, Lucy Nielson, Cerise Kofoed and Laura Bucci,
Vicki is directed by long-time Sydney actor-director Shane Bates (Genesian, Phoenix Theatre companies) with musical direction from Vincent Fortado.

Described by Bates as "a light-hearted look at a serious subject", she has watched Vicki's development since the 1970s.

"It's a fun script and we've hugely enjoyed developing the characters. What has interested me most though about this production is not only Rod's delightful but sometimes sad melodies, but just how topical Vicki is to today's audience."

"Initially written when the world came very close to a nuclear holocaust with the Bay of Pigs Cuban missile crisis, it seems incredible that today we still face a similar threat from North Korea."
