The Department of Theater and Dance at the University of California, Santa Barbara will present Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill’s groundbreaking musical, The Threepenny Opera.

Directed by Katierose Donohue Enriquez, Stacie Burrows’ Laughable will premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and run from June 6th through June 29th at the Broadwater Black Box.

The UCSB Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Delila Moseley, will present In Different Realms... el arte perdura, featuring works by choreographers from different realms of the dance world.

That laughter you hear coming from within the Troutt Theatre on the Belmont University campus this weekend and next should probably come with a trigger warning. For no matter how rollicking, rambunctious and uproarious it truly is, it should be pointed out that what is transpiring on that stage over two weekends is, indeed, the stuff of post-traumatic stress – or, not to put too fine a point on it, it would be if the shenanigans weren’t brilliantly scripted, infinitely well-rehearsed and just the way it should be.

Original Tectonic Theater Project company members will travel back to Laramie, Wyoming to present a staged reading of their groundbreaking play, The Laramie Project to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the untimely death of Matthew Shepard (December 1, 1976 – October 12, 1998). Milwaukee Rep, now celebrating its 70th Anniversary Season, will present the World Premiere of Parental Advisory: a breakbeat play by award-winning playwright Idris Goodwin (HBO’s Def Poetry Jam).

Quintessence Theatre Group, Philadelphia's professional classic theatre, continues Season XIII: Celebrating the Extraordinary with Clifford Odets' American classic Waiting For Lefty. Directed by Kyle Haden, Waiting For Lefty remains an incendiary and revolutionary play about the growing pains of labor in capitalist America, and starts previews January 18, with an Opening Night Saturday, January 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Santa Barbara Festival Ballet will present its 47th annual production of The Nutcracker at The Arlington Theater. The beloved holiday tradition is returning with three performances on Saturday and Sunday, December 10 and 11. This is a family friendly event, so all ages are invited to enjoy the show and celebrate the holiday season!

Following their successful collaboration with the creation of Avian in 2019, Carley Conder (Arizona State University) and Valerie Huston (UCSB Dance Faculty) now consider the power of water in all of its forms.  

New York City Opera presents a family-friendly version of Mozart's The Magic Flute at schools in Great Neck and New York, NY from May 3-5, 2022.

Local dance artist and graduate student in the Department of Theater and Dance Meredith Cabaniss presents Rite of Spring, a program featuring a contemporary adaptation of Le Sacre du Printemps and performances by dance artists from throughout Southern California. Rite of Spring runs April 15-16, 2022 at the Hatlen Theater on University of California, Santa Barbara campus.

The UCSB Department of Theater and Dance will present The Bones of Contention, a new play written and directed by Professor Leo Cabranes-Grant.
