When you study theatre, you explore the power of imagery and the spoken word in the context of history, politics, philosophy and religion. With this understanding, you see culture, society – even yourself – through a new lens. Your intuition sharpens along with your creativity and analytical skill – tools that serve you well both on stage and off. At St. Norbert College, you Why is the theatre so popular? Maybe it’s because when you sit in the audience and watch actors on a stage, you share an experience that becomes part of you. Maybe it’s because of those magical moments when you remember all of your lines as if you weren’t acting at all. St. Norbert College’s theatre studies program will prompt you to explore the power of imagery and the spoken word within the context of history, politics, philosophy and religion. Whether you act, direct, write or design sets, SNC is a place where you’ll discover theatre as a way to help you understand the breadth and depth of humanity. Earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre studies. Or you may minor in the field by completing six courses in the theatre studies curriculum.

UTA Theatre Arts and Dance begins the fall semester with two contemporary plays presented in repertory in the Studio Theatre. Will Powers 2018 play, Seize the King, is a contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard III seen through an Afrofuturist lens. Guest director Jiles King is excited for the challenges this play will bring to UTA Acting students, particularly the plays ' combination of contemporary and poetic language.' Seize the King opens September 19th in the Studio Theatre, running for four performances.

Written by Justin Butcher. On Millenium Eve, a 100-year-old clown comes offstage after his final ever performance to tell the story of his life: epic, hilarious and tragic. Performed by Fringe legend Thom Tuck (Penny Dreadfuls, Horrible Histories, Play What I Wrote). Tuck presented this play at the Fringe 2005 and 2015, and plans to revive the piece every decade as he approaches the age of the character.
