Southeastern Oklahoma State University Department of Music has a longstanding reputation for musical excellence. Recognized for its quality performances, education and community service, the department plays a major role in bringing the performance arts to the Texoma Region. With four degree programs serving both national and international students, the department maintains a vibrant and diverse student population.
The Department of Music is one of ten academic departments in the School of Arts and Sciences and is located in the Fine Arts Building at the north end of the campus. Facilities include the Recital Hall, teaching studios, practice studios, an electronic piano and iMAC computer laboratory, a listening laboratory, choral rehearsal hall, jazz/percussion rehearsal hall, band rehearsal hall, classrooms, and faculty offices. Larger concerts and staged productions are presented in Montgomery Auditorium, the Visual and Performing Arts Center, or in the New Theatre Building. Chamber music programs, solo recitals, and small productions are presented in the Recital Hall.
Comprehensive offerings in music performances and enrichment opportunities serve the needs and interests of students participating in The Department of Music. All qualified University students are eligible for membership in the performing ensembles based on auditions.
Southeastern Oklahoma State University is fully accredited by the North Central Association and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. The Department of Music is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Music Schools (OAMS) and is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Both majors and non-majors alike will be provided the opportunity to explore the various options and career paths in music at Southeastern.

Dances of New Spain, followed by a solo piano concert by Eric Reed on Friday, Oct. 10, at von der Mehden Recital Hall. Both performances begin at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.
