Note: The Brown/Trinity MFA is not currently accepting applications and is on indefinite pause.

The Department offers a concentration in Theatre Arts and Performance Studies. Concentrators chose a "track" to study within the concentration -Theatre Arts, Performance Studies, or Writing for Performance. Students can all find a home in one of the tracks by working with faculty to best design their curricular choices. Prospective students are welcome to visit our facilities and tours of our spaces can be arranged in advance by contacting the department directly. Additional campus tours and info sessions are available to prospective students through the Undergraduate Admissions Office.

The 2nd Annual Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF) Winter Mini-Fest features four celebrated choreographers from around the world: Khambatta Dance Company's (KDC) artistic director Cyrus Khambatta, Shura Baryshnikov (Rhode Island) Gabriel Forestieri (NYC) and Danny Tan (Singapore). Together they will unite elements of their collective dance backgrounds swap dancers and present three emotionally-charged performances over two weekends. The concept of producing new pieces in a short time frame is one of the signature components of SIDF.

TAPS At Brown University Presents A New Play By MFA Playwright Julia Izumi

Sometimes the Rain, Sometimes the Sea, a new play by Brown MFA Playwright Julia Izumi, directed by Brown MFA Director, Kate Bergstrom, is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved and well-known fairy tale, "The Little Mermaid." This modern adaptation, in which a rain cloud falls in love with a human, transports audiences into a familiar and fantastical world of self-discovery. Told by a mysterious storyteller named Dolan, characters surprisingly find their authentic selves despite the downpour of complexities that accompany their journeys of falling in and out love.
