Adapted from Don Miguel de Cervantes’ classic Spanish novel, Don Quixote, MAN OF LA MANCHA is wonderfully theatrical, funny, and uplifting. The inspirational Tony Award-winning musical about one man’s refusal to give up on his “Impossible Dream” to right all wrongs has mesmerized audiences for years!
Playwright Cervantes has been thrown into a dungeon to await trial. To save his cherished manuscript from fellow prisoners, he and his faithful servant transform themselves and act out a heartfelt story. The wonderful score includes “Dulcinea,” “Little Bird,” and the incomparable “The Impossible Dream.”
The show espouses pure theatricality in its most passionate form. It is also a musical that gives hope - conveying the message that we can get through anything and achieve personal peace.
CCT is thrilled to bring you a full-fledged musical as part of next season’s offerings, and one that has endured in relevance and popularity for many years. The original Broadway production of MAN OF LA MANCHA was a huge success, opening in 1965 and running through 1971 totaling more than 2300 performances. It was honored with multiple awards, including seven Tony Awards. It has had numerous Broadway revivals.
At CCT, MAN OF LA MANCHA will be directed by longtime artistic director Sam Hack, with music direction by Gene Rauscher and choreography by Lauren Neels.
