The Sheldon presents the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Jon Cleary: "My Feet Can't Fail Me Now," Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 8 p.m. in the perfect acoustics of the Sheldon Concert Hall.

The 25th Anniversary of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band's first album, My Feet Can't Fail Me Now, brings together two of the finest and most deep rooted contemporary artists on the New Orleans scene. The Dirty Dozen Brass Band's name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane shows and they bring to the stage the unique combination of bebop, funk and R&B that have made them New Orleans legends. They are joined by the soulful vocals and infectious grooves of longtime Bonnie Raitt-collaborator Jon Cleary, one of today's most original New Orleans-based artists.

In 1977, the Dirty Dozen Social and Pleasure Club in New Orleans began showcasing a traditional Crescent City brass band, assembling this group as a house band, and over the course of these early gigs, the seven-member ensemble adopted the venue's name: the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Thirty years later, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world famous music machine, who have revitalized the brass band in New Orleans and around the world, progressing from local parties, clubs, baseball games and festivals in their early years to touring in the U.S. and in over 30 other countries on five continents. The Dirty Dozen have been featured guests on albums by artists including David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Dr. John and the Black Crowes.

Jon Cleary is a triple threat with a unique voice, masterful piano skills, and a knack for coupling infectious grooves with melodic hooks and sharp lyrics. He balances a career performing with his band The Absolute Monster Gentlemen, Bonnie Raitt, and the Dirty Dozen Brass band, while recording with numerous groups, and composing songs for various artists. His live shows are an explosive funk party, mixing soul with the rhythms of New Orleans . Born in Kent , England , Jon Cleary has educated himself in the musical culture and life of New Orleans for the past twenty years.
